Sneaky [Daily Photo #698]

Somebody is very sneaky.

Aulinka: “Oh, you noticed? Hehe… just a little Googling here. Lovely weather, isn't it? -20, yeah. No complaints of any kind. I assure you I love winter, haha. Mmm, snow.”

Special Bird Food [Daily Photo #697]

Normally I feed birds with sunflower seeds or peanuts but I was cleaning the closets today and found a few bags of almonds that expired rather long time ago. ^^;; They look fine though, so I'm going to offer them to wild birds. It's really cold now (-17 right this moment), so birds need to be fed. It's easier for them to survive cold when they have food in their tummies, and by the end of winter there isn't that much food left in the woods, so they especially need our help now.

Bird: “Crush them so that birds with small beaks can eat them too!”

Schlumbergera Progress [Daily Photo #688]

My schlumbergera's flowers are opening up! ^u^

I know it's supposed to bloom in December,
but I arranged a dormancy for it too late – see more here.

I Could Not Resist... [Daily Photo #686]

I could resist them no more! I bought seeds! I want to garden! T_T Last year I planted nasturtiums from seeds and I really liked them. This time though I bought seeds of larger varieties, so that they can climb up high and cover lots of space with beautiful leaves and flowers. ^u^

Alanya Market [Daily Photo #681]

The other day we went to Alanya Market in Espoo (the address is Kamreerintie 3, Espoo). It seems they mostly have Turkish food, but I did see some Russian stuff, like roasted sunflower seeds (unshelled, as it should be!) and zefir (an abomination for me, but many Russians love it). They have so many interesting sweets like rahat lokum and baklava! Fig jam, date syrup, chickpea flour, cherry juice, all kinds of beans and olives, teas, etc. So, of course we bought a couple things. Just a few! =D

Buds and Dust [Daily Photo #675]

After spending many, many weeks in our cold sauna (the coldest room in our apartment when not in use), my biggest schlumbergera finally made flower buds! This plant needs a cold period to form the buds, so last year, when I didn't know that, it didn't bloom because I kept it in an environment that was too warm. Hopefully these buds will turn into flowers some day soon! Fingers crossed! ^u^
