Underdogs [Daily Photo #644]

I discovered Madder Mortem's music ages ago when I lived in Mordor, sorry, I mean Moscow. There was a late night show on a rock and metal radio station, that night's theme was Norwegian metal. They played a few songs by mostly new to me bands and I even taped some of that show! As soon is Madder Mortem's Rust Cleansing started playing I was hooked. It's still one of my top 5* songs of all time. =D It's just so perfect in every aspect!

* Well, I don't actually have a top 5 list, that would be too hard to choose, but I know that Rust Cleansing would definitely be there. ;p

Pompom [Daily Photo #354]

I thought it was spring and soon I would pack away my scarves like the one above…
Alas spring it's not. It snowed today!

Since this “summer” is quite chilly, I often have to wear warm clothes like these socks!

Happy Birthday, Ira!

My mysterious and beautiful friend Ira, Happy Birthday!
(((o(*゚▽゚*)o)))

This little doodle is for you!
Special guest star: the Nuclear Owl.

It's based on Ira's actual clothes (she's cool like that*). ^-^
But I didn't choose this outfit just as an excuse to draw more corsets, I swear!

DapperQ
“Founded in January 2009, dapperQ is for anyone who wants to make any element of men’s style truly their own. It’s for all who have been discouraged — in a million and one subtle and not-so-subtle ways — from gleaning for self-expression from the rich and robust universe pioneered over centuries by dapper gents and today reflected in glossies such as GQ, Details and Vogue for Men.”

Books & Tea. It Never Ends

Really, I should never go to libraries alone. I was supposed to return The Summer Prince and get two books I ordered earlier (if you live in Espoo, Helsinki, Vantaa or Kauniainen, you can order books from any of their libraries and have them delivered to your local library for free). But somehow... my legs just took me upstairs... and my eyes saw more books... and then the books just jumped into my hands, you know? They were naughtily heavy!

My husband is learning Russian. He is reading Max Frei now, humoristic Russian fantasy-mystery. It's a bit challenging for a beginner, so I got him English translation for reference.

Max Frei wrote a lot, this isn't even everything. ^^

Androgyny

Placebo – Pure Morning

“Why don't you wear skirts? You'd look so great in them!”
“Now lemme apply some make up on you, your skin is too green.”

Skunk Anansie – Weak

“I know you want a microscope but let's buy you new shoes instead?”
“Whoa, didn't think you liked such bloody movies.”

Muscles, flutes and drums

In January my husband asked if I was gonna be available on March 26th. He wouldn't tell me what for. I kept that day free for him. So, it finally came and we went to Helsinki. We ate at San Pedro's, visited a bookstore (I didn't buy anything, gasp) and then he took me to the Savoy theater. o_O

The thing is, we don't go to theaters. So I was very puzzled. We entered, and I saw some kanji. 鼓童? Huh? :D He kept teasing me with silence, but eventually I got it. We're going to see Kodō, the taiko group!

About a chain. О цепочке

Today I'll tell you a story about a chain. I studied psychology in university, and they would only let us practice on kids. So sometimes we were sent to work in schools, which I really didn't like – too noisy and kids. Once I got into a school where they had a dress code...

In our first day in the school our supervising teacher told us to come in skirts next time (there were only girls in my group). I didn't know whether to laugh or to cry. It was minus something outside, lots of snow – perfect weather for skirts, right. Plus, I don't wear skirts. My friend wasn't happy either – she always wears guyish clothes. Her and skirts just don't work together. So we looked at each other, and told our teacher that we couldn't wear skirts. She didn't expect that. She suggested at least no jeans. So I had to wear the only formally looking trousers I had, and those were quite cold.
