A Plant That Moves [Daily Photo #572]
When I got a calathea
plant I had no idea it'd be scratching walls and making rustling
sounds spookily. =D Turns out, every day calatheas move their leaves
up and down because why not, right? =D
“Calathea [...] closes
its leaves at night and opens them again in the morning! This is the
reason why Calathea is also called the ‘living plant’. The plant
owes this ability to a small ‘joint’ between the leaf and stem.
Light moves the joints and, as a result, Calathea’s leaves open and
close – which is sometimes accompanied by a rustling sound.”

So, I took three photos of
our calathea today:

Coffee and Bakery [Daily Photo #571]
I had a dream last night
where I was in a café with friends, and there were so many delicious
things like apple pies and chocolate chip muffins, and I was trying
to choose something and it was very hard, and then I didn't manage to
choose anything in time because I woke up! Aww. So, after hearing
about my plight, my husband bought some bakery for us and said I can
get to choose now which one I want. =D Isn't he sweet?

Croissants [Daily Photo #566]
Yesterday I made some
croissants. No, not from scratch, I bought Danerolles dough. =D They
are really fun to make! And not only they are delicious, but these
croissants are also vegan!

Red Sun [Daily Photo #565]
Yesterday the sun looked
unusually red high in the sky, due to dust from Sahara and particles
from forest fires in Portugal and Spain. The particles in the air
scattered the blue colour out, leaving only reds and yellows. It
looked so strange, as if the sun was having a second sunrise in the
middle of the sky – the reds were very similar to the
sunrise/sundown reds.

Fabric Petals [Daily Photo #557]
I certainly prefer real
plants (of which I don't have enough!), but it's nice to have a few
artificial ones for variety. ^^ Here are some flowers I got from IKEA
long ago.

Hardcovers [Daily Photo #551]
You might have noticed
that I like books a lot. =D And I like to keep them in good
condition, so of course I prefer hardcovers as they are more durable.
But. I was quite disappointed when I discovered that most of the time
hardcovers from USA have very plain covers with pretty dust jackets
on top. It feels like cheating. =D You pay a lot more but the durable
cover of the book is plain, and the pretty dust jacket won't last
long unless you're very careful. Meh!
*grumble grumble*
I guess I'm a spoiled
child of USSR. Most of my Russian books are hardcovers, as they are
more common than paperbacks and affordable there, and most of Russian
hardcovers don't have dust jackets. Have a look!
